Mike,

I bought my Savage during the $400.00 free acessories promotion. Got a top-of the line First Gear rain jacket, but was leery of meltdown on the bottoms. I found that Sierra Designs had some very serviceable PVC/nylon rain suits @ $19.00 for tops or bottoms. Bought a pair of the bottoms-they are generously cut for quick on over pants, durable & and have snaps to close them pretty tight over boot tops. I've used them now with good success in a couple of brief but very intense downpours. As for boots, I wear a pair of heavy duty leather Double H western-style pull-ons that I have worked with a lot of mink oil, especially along the seams. These are absolutely rain tight. They cost about $100.00 but have a goodyear welt and thus can be re-soled over and over. I rank good boots up there with a good helmet & jacket. If I'm going to donate animal skin to the pavement, I'd prefer it to be that which I have purchased, not home-grown!
